ST:  Why do you think your paper is highly cited?

I believe one reason is that it describes the basic features of a new technology in general terms. It is not written for specialists only but it’s also useful for a broad range of people working in the field.

ST:  Does it describe a new discovery or new methodology that's useful to others?

It describes a new methodology, which offered a number of new clinical applications for radiological diagnosis and which significantly improved the capabilities of computed tomography for volumetric imaging in general.

ST:  Could you summarize the significance of your paper in layman's terms?

The paper is, to my knowledge, the first comprehensive overview of the technology of computed tomography, the mathematical algorithms and the potential clinical applications for radiological diagnosis.

ST:  How did you become involved in this research?

This research was part of my work for Siemens Medical Solutions, the Computed Tomography division. At this time I was in charge of the innovations and concept team and I have very much enjoyed working in this field from the very early days on.End
